Collaboration Mania Off Paper Demo

Collaboration Mania! (Off Paper)

For this final contemporary assignment, we were instructed to make a drawing create itself by not using ourselves to physically construct the piece.  I chose to set up a series of cups and shot glasses which were then filled with different amounts of baking soda.  Next, I mixed cups of vinegar with different color dye and poured them into the cups and glasses to then make an overflowing chemical reaction on paper.  It took a lot of planning to create the images I wanted but very happy in the way the pieces turned out.  By using this method of chemical reaction on paper, I was able to construct a pair of eyes with a ambiguous space and thought provoking piece which came together for a strong and effective series.

Projection (On Paper)

This assignment consisted of making an addition to a two-dimensional piece by making a 3D projection off the drawing.  I chose to use the element of bubblegum and exploit it for its different aesthetics including natural and surreal pieces.  The preservation of bubbles also played a unique and interesting role in the series.

Projection (Off Paper)

For this exercise we were instructed to project in idea or put a new influence onto any object or piece.  I decided to transform matchbooks into works of art by portraying the depiction of powerful figures such as ganesh, john lennon, and bob marley, and arranging the matches to look like gestures that match each figure. Collectivey they represent the idea of peace and wisdom and the juxtaposition towards fire and it's common destructive and harsh qualities.  Fire in this case can be alluded to idea of light and guidance.
